Chronicles
of the Forgotten God

Wicca is a neopagan movement that emerged in the 20^th century and holds nature as sacred. Its calendar follows the Wheel of the Year: eight festivals attuned to the rhythm of the seasons, from the fire of summer to the silence of winter. Two deities stand at its heart: the Goddess, in her three faces of maiden, mother and crone, and the Horned God, lord of forests, beasts and cycles.

The myth tells how this god is born, loves the Goddess, dies in autumn and is reborn in spring: endlessly, along the Wheel. The Chronicles give that cycle flesh and blood: it is this path of death and rebirth that the hero walks, through his own scattered selves and transformations.

For Wicca does not seek to master the living world, but to move in step with it: nothing is lost, everything is transformed. That is the lesson the Horned God must learn for himself: the sacred is never restored, it reinvents itself.
